Operations Manager Resume Sample
· Keith Kwai
Operations Manager is one of the broadest titles in Singapore’s job market. The CV has to immediately clarify what kind of operations you have managed — supply chain, logistics, service delivery, manufacturing, or something else — before anything else lands.
What makes a strong Operations Manager CV
Function specificity over generic operations language
Every Operations Manager ‘managed operations.’ Your CV needs to immediately establish what function — and at what scale — within the first two sentences. The context defines everything that follows.
Show efficiency, not just activity
Operational improvement is measured in cost reduction, throughput improvement, defect rate, turnaround time, SLA compliance. If you moved any of these metrics, your CV needs to say by how much and in what timeframe.
Team leadership scale contextualises the role
Managing three people and managing a three-hundred-person operation are different CVs. Make headcount visible — both the team you led directly and any dotted-line or vendor workforce you were responsible for.
Cross-functional influence is a mark of seniority
Operations Managers who can show they influenced commercial, finance, or product decisions — not just executed within them — read as significantly more senior.
What to do
- Specify industry and function in your opening summary
- Include operational KPIs: throughput, cost per unit, SLA performance, defect rate
- Show process improvement initiatives with quantified before-and-after
- Demonstrate vendor or third-party management if relevant
- Include budget or cost centre ownership where applicable
What to avoid
- Write ‘oversaw day-to-day operations’ as a meaningful description
- List responsibilities without any performance data
- Ignore the human management dimension: team structure, performance management, capability building
- Conflate operational execution with operational strategy
- Write a CV that could apply to any industry — operations is highly industry-specific
What a weak CV looks like
- A list of operational functions managed with no measurable outcomes
- Team size and budget scope entirely absent
- Responsibilities that read identically across five years of roles
- No evidence of any operational improvement — only maintenance
