Singapore Rail Academy teams up with five schools to give rail workers formal qualifications
· Keith Kwai
Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow announced on 24 October that the Singapore Rail Academy will partner ITE, Nanyang Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic and the Singapore Institute of Technology so that rail training and certifications can count towards formal qualifications such as Higher Nitec and diplomas. From November the academy will bring LTA, SMRT and SBS Transit training under one common curriculum, widen it to technicians and operations staff, and from early 2027 start a rail-sector WSQ certification framework.
On the bus side of the same event, SGFleetGuide, a sister site, reports how bus technicians were tested on electric-bus diagnostics at LTA’s BusTech Grand Challenge.
