SG Jobs News: MOM issues new haze guidance for adjusting outdoor work using hourly PM2.5 readings

On 20 October, the Ministry of Manpower released additional haze guidance asking employers to use the PSI forecast to plan the next day’s outdoor work and the 1-hour PM2.5 readings to adjust it within the day. For elderly, pregnant and chronically ill staff, strenuous outdoor work should be avoided at Elevated readings (56 to 150 µg/m³), outdoor work avoided at High (151 to 250) and prohibited at Very High (251 and above); healthy staff should progressively scale back, with N95 masks provided if strenuous outdoor work cannot be avoided at High readings. Employers are also reminded to review haze management plans and keep at least a week’s supply of masks for outdoor workers.
