Government to offer grants for employers who redesign jobs for flexible work
· Keith Kwai
At the IPS Young Singaporeans Conference on 14 October, Acting Manpower Minister Jasmin Lau said Singapore will give grants and incentives to employers that redesign roles into flexible-load or fractional jobs. The approach will start with selected industries and roles rather than a full national rollout, and pay may vary with the tasks and outcomes delivered. She said the option is meant for anyone who needs shorter hours for a period, including caregivers, not only as a marriage and parenthood measure.
Until the grants arrive, WorkRightSG, a sister site, explains how employers must handle flexible work requests under the current tripartite guidelines.
If shorter hours would help you care for an ageing parent, ElderSG, a sister site, offers a free planner for sharing caregiving duties across the family.
