Sales Manager Resume Sample

Sales Manager CVs are judged first on numbers. Before a hiring manager reads your leadership style or management philosophy, they want to know: what were your targets, did you hit them, and what did your team produce under you. Start there.
What makes a strong Sales Manager CV
Quota attainment is the first filter
Most sales hiring decisions are made before the end of the CV’s first half-page. If your quota attainment, revenue generated, or team performance numbers are not visible within the first third of your CV, you are losing interviews.
Show team performance, not just personal performance
A Sales Manager who can only show their own numbers is a senior individual contributor. Show what your team produced under your leadership — team quota, headcount managed, turnover rate, ramp time for new hires.
Sales cycle and deal size provide essential context
A $10K transactional sale and a $2M enterprise deal require very different skills. Make your deal size, sales cycle length, and customer type visible so hiring managers can assess fit quickly.
Pipeline management is a leadership skill
Forecasting accuracy, pipeline hygiene, CRM discipline — these tell a hiring manager how commercially mature you are. If you have managed large pipelines rigorously, show it.
What to do
- Open with your best revenue or quota attainment figure
- Show YoY performance trend, not just peak year
- Specify: SME, mid-market, or enterprise — these are different markets in Singapore
- Include team size, ramp time, and any attrition you managed
- Name the CRM systems you have worked in and at what level of sophistication
What to avoid
- Write ‘exceeded targets’ without stating by how much or for how long
- Describe sales methodology (SPIN, Challenger, MEDDIC) without demonstrating outcomes
- List industries you have sold into without showing which produced results
- Ignore the business development component of sales management — new markets, new verticals
- Write a summary focused on your personal sales style rather than team commercial output
What a weak CV looks like
- Revenue numbers from a peak year with no context for the years before or after
- A skills section listing ‘relationship building’ and ‘negotiation’ with no evidence
- Role descriptions that describe the sales process rather than your performance within it
- No differentiation between managing a team of two and managing a team of twenty
