SG Jobs News: 3,000 year-long internships to be offered to tertiary students as AI erodes entry-level work

Senior Minister of State Tan Kiat How said on 19 October that about 3,000 new credit-bearing, year-long internships will be offered to ITE, polytechnic and university students over the next three years, so they can build deeper work experience as AI takes over many junior tasks. The internships run under IMDA’s TIP Alliance+ programme, which has been open to polytechnic and ITE students since 2022 and now extends to universities; they are co-designed by institutions and employers in sectors such as tech, finance and healthcare, and IMDA co-funds up to $1,000 a month for each eligible intern.
