Fintech Resume Sample Singapore

· Keith Kwai

Singapore’s fintech sector is one of the most active in Asia — home to the MAS regulatory sandbox, a growing stable of digital banks, and a dense concentration of payments, wealthtech, and insurtech companies. That density makes it a genuine hub, not a regional outpost. It also means competition for fintech roles here is fierce, and the people doing the hiring know exactly what they’re looking for.

A fintech resume has to do two things at once: prove you understand financial services and its regulatory demands, and show you can move at the pace and ambiguity of a tech company. Most candidates manage one. The ones who get hired manage both.

What Fintech Hiring Managers Look For

Regulatory Literacy Without Over-Engineering It

Singapore fintech sits under MAS oversight, so hiring managers want to see that you understand the regulatory environment — the Payment Services Act (PSA), MAS Technology Risk Management (TRM) guidelines, AML/CFT frameworks — without being so compliance-heavy that you slow everything down. The framing matters here: you want to come across as someone who navigates regulation, not someone defined by it.

If you’ve worked at a licensed entity — a bank, a Major Payment Institution (MPI), a capital markets services licensee — say so, and name the licence type. Been involved in MAS submissions, licensing applications, or regulatory reporting? Include it. In a sector full of candidates arriving from adjacent industries without this exposure, that kind of detail sets you apart.

Product and Technology Context

Most fintech roles sit at the intersection of finance and technology, so your resume needs to show you understand both sides regardless of your function. Product and ops candidates should show they grasp the technical architecture behind what they’re building or managing; engineers should show they understand the financial logic driving product decisions.

Name the stack where it’s relevant. Mention the financial products you’ve worked on — lending, payments, FX, insurance, wealth management — because that’s the kind of domain fit a generic tech background simply can’t signal.

Metrics and Scale

Fintech companies live by numbers: transaction volumes, conversion rates, activation rates, churn, NPS, cost per acquisition. Quantify anything your role touched. “Improved onboarding completion rate from 54% to 71% through UX redesign” tells a hiring manager, in shorthand, that you can spot a problem in the funnel and execute a fix.

Resume Structure for Fintech Roles

Professional Summary

Lead with your function, the fintech segment you’ve operated in (payments, lending, wealthtech, insurtech), and the regulatory or product context that makes you relevant to this specific role. Skip generic openings like “results-driven professional” — fintech hiring teams read enough resumes to spot a template in one line.

Core Competencies

Include product domains (payments, lending, KYC/AML), regulatory frameworks (MAS PSA, MAS TRM, AML/CFT), technical tools (SQL, Jira, Confluence, API documentation, payment rails like FAST, PayNow, SWIFT), and methodologies (Agile, OKRs) — and match the wording to the language used in the job description.

Work Experience

For each role, open by establishing whether the company was a regulated entity, a startup, or a large incumbent; the hiring manager needs that context to calibrate what you’re describing. Then lead with outcomes — metrics moved, products launched, regulatory milestones hit, team size managed. Keep it to three to five bullet points per role, and make every one earn its place.

Positioning Yourself: Regulated vs Startup Fintech

There’s a real difference between working at a digital bank (highly regulated, institutional pace) and a Series A payments startup (move fast, regulatory is one function among many). If you’re applying across both types, tailor your summary and lead bullets accordingly — governance and process for the bank role, speed and ownership and breadth for the startup.
